My First Tarot Deck

Where and when did my passion for tarot start ...

October 19, 2018

In late 1986, I left Sydney for London. I was young and hungry to travel the world to learn and grow.

Deep inside me, I knew I was destined to live in the Northern Hemisphere; my heritage is German and Dutch so I wanted to return to my roots.

There was something old worldly about London when I arrived; I found the non-living energies to be very active and connected to the 1800’s. They were quite sociable and would be around me day and night!

As I was wondering around Leicester Square in late 1988, I stumbled into a bookshop called Watkins Books (which is still there to this day!), serving the mind, body and soul specialties.

It was nirvana and heaven on earth for me but back then, books on the subject of tarot and all things esoteric were in short supply compared to now. I looked at the selection and was drawn to a tarot deck and book, ‘Fortune Telling by Tarot Cards’ by Sasha Fenton.

My boyfriend purchased it for my birthday and that was it, I was hooked! I spent the next 10 years connecting with this deck, absorbing the energy and mystical knowledge while reading for others. I loved the messages, history and symbolism; it seemed endless to me!

You can see how the age and how much I used the book from the screws in the spine!

Today, I am lucky to own a beautiful collection of tarot, angel and oracle decks and feel fortunate to have completed thousands of readings for others.

However, I have never forgotten my first tarot card deck and am forever grateful that these cards entered my life to create my passion and profession.
